Job Purpose:
Assist families by increasing their ability to maintain a safe and nurturing home for their children and to parent effectively. Provide support and education to parents and children by assisting clients in learning basic living and parenting skills.
Essential Job Duties:
Full-time or Part-time in Omaha, or southeast Nebraska; Butler, Saunders, Cass, Otoe, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee, and Richardson counties.
Service Delivery
• Provide home-based safety services, education, and support to assist clients in acquiring basic living skills such as parenting, household management, and emotional regulation.
• Respond to client referrals and/or emergencies in person within specified time frames, such as within two hours.
• Provide on-call services as needed for client referrals and issues.
• Participate in consultation supervision sessions as required.
• Analyze and make recommendations regarding individual cases.
Record Keeping
• Complete necessary paperwork, including progress notes, reports, documentation, assessments, service plans, genograms, ecomaps, aftercare plans, and discharge summaries completed in accordance with agency policy/procedure.
• Collect statistics and implement all CQI procedures.
Collaboration and Community Relations:
• Collaborate with other agencies, service providers, and informal supports including case managers, therapists, and relatives to advocate on behalf of clients.
Professional Growth and Development
• Develop respectful relationships with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social work or related field
• Experience with troubled families.
• Required knowledge in child welfare issues, needs of neglected, abused, and exploited children, family functioning, and child development.
• Demonstrated decision making skills and competencies to work in crisis situations.
• Knowledge of the functions and services of the community organizations and related human services.
• Possess good verbal/written communication skills.
• Possess good organizational skills including the ability to prioritize a variety of changing, multi-task activities.
• Hours include evenings, nights and weekends.
• Valid vehicle operator license, proof of liability insurance and ability to drive for Agency business.
